Baby eels ( Angulas )

Angulas have always been a very traditional basque dish, but nowadays the prices for the real angulas are so expensive, as much as 900 euros the Kilo, that only a few lucky ones can afford to eat them.

In this recipe I have used the fake angulas called Gulas.

The Gulas are made from Surimi, the product looks very similar to the real deal, but you can always taste the difference. If you are not sure, what you are eating is real, look for the tiny eyes. The fake ones don´t have eyes.

Anyway fake or not this is soooooooooo good.

Traditional way

Fry in the same pan with olive oil, sliced garlic and dry chili, until starts getting brown.

Add the Gulas or if you can afford Angulas. Mix for 2 or 3 min.

Done! Now eat straight away,

Spanish bread and  Rioja red  is  a must!!!!
